How A Whisky Legend Took A Backseat To Beyoncé To Create SirDavis

When I heard that Dr. Bill Lumsden was creating a whiskey with Beyoncé, my first thought was, “Yeah, it’s a celebrity whiskey, but as far as I’m concerned it’s Dr. Bill who’s the celebrity.” And it’s true — the man is a big effin’ deal in the world of Scotch single malts. He’s the guy in charge of Glenmorangie AND Ardbeg, two very different whiskies, both of which I love. And he’s one of my all-time favorite interviews, because he doesn’t pull too many punches and because he loves talking about music and movies and anything else on his mind as much as he enjoys talking cask aging and distillation processes.
I may consider Dr. Bill a star, but needless to say, in the case of SirDavis — the whiskey he made with Beyoncé — he’s pretty small potatoes compared to his creative partner. I wanted to get his side of the story, and I did so for the fine folks at Forbes. I think it’s an interesting read no matter what you think about the whiskey itself. Link is -> HERE <-.
