Where To Drink Martinis In NYC This August, Plus New Whiskies!

As I write this, in early August, It’s been a long time, even for me, since I updated this blog. Part of it was that I was traveling for much of July and didn’t write a whole lot. But I’m back and I’m busy and I’m going to have plenty of stuff to share. Starting with….

I love August in New York. The city feels a little slower, whether it’s because of the heat and humidity or because all the movers and shakers are off moving and shaking in the Hamptons. A little more relaxed. A little emptier. So why not hit the places that are jam-packed from Labor Day through Memorial Day and enjoy an ice-cold martini and contemplate life a little bit? So I wrote up a few of my favorite spots to martini it up in the summer and published it at Forbes. Of course, I went out last night and the city — including one of the spots mentioned in the article — was absolutely mobbed, as crowded as it gets during the thick of the holiday season only hot and humid. Don’t live in NYC? Don’t feel like a martini? Both? Not to worry, I’ve written about some other stuff you may find interesting! Such as the final edition of the Macallan’s Harmony Collection, an annual release of surprisingly affordable and quite delicious whiskies that, frankly, I’m sad is coming to an end. Hopefully they’ll replace it with something similarly inexpensive. In the meantime, this one, which has a coconutty flavor (without anything artificial being used to get that flavor note, of course — this is the Macallan we’re talking about!), should be a goodie.
